Sometimes I hate media for misrepresentation of facts… Few minutes back, I read this headline on ibnlive – “Turned away from flight, HIV+ girl dies at the airport.”
What is the first thought that came to your mind after reading this? I am sure you thought how inhuman was that…she was not allowed to fly only because she was HIV+? At least that’s what I thought! And I had already started cursing the authorities for this when I clicked on the headline and came the whole news item which said that she was not allowed to fly because she fell very ill while waiting for her security check, collapsing in the domestic lounge of the airport. Now that was only practical…wasn’t it?! It was a big dilemma because the girl had the fit-to-fly certificate but them I think the authorities did exactly what they were supposed to do.
Had they allowed her to fly and something had happened to her on the flight, the media surely would have phrased it like this – “Girl dies on board due to authorities’ irresposibility.” or some shit! But then that’s how they get their bread!
i find the expression as reality of life.
not just like what the people think as correct after only reading headlines
no wonder sakshi, we are passing through an era where serious journalism has been traded with sensationalism in indian media… i see no hope here… what is worse is in the cases where there is a media trial before an actual court trial… they reach millions through media but an innocentĀ“s cry cannt be heard even until next door!!!
it pains to see a whole country being hijacked by a few media channels… and i have had the experience of dealing with some of the indian journalists personally while they are on a trip abroad to cover international events, i am sorry to say, i am yet to come across a lot where humanity is getting lower than that… for such cheap consideration they stoop to any level… i saw it happending by my own eyes! its a shame…
cannt write more here it would really get ugly…
thanks for writing abt it. much appreciated!
cheers.
