Ain’t all of us running??? Yes, but I think everyone’s approach/level of interest/level of involvement is different…
I wonder how people can keep cribbing about the ‘rat race’ and at the same time get so engrossed in it that they take their personla lives for granted! And what are they left with… not much at the personal front for sure… maybe something (or a lot) at the professional front. But I really wanna know… does it give them a real sense of accomplishment? Are they really able to enjoy or celebrate that professional success after they’ve screwed their personal lives for that?
Someone recently told me that once his boss held a meeting on a Saturday… and said that you guys continue working..I’ll be back in a couple of hours.. and she got back even before those couple of hours got over… and guess where she went… to her son’s first birthday party… honestly, ridiculous is the only word that comes to my mind!
I don’t say there’s any harm in being that career-oriented also. But you must have your preferences clear in your head. Why do you have to have a child or even get married for that matter, if you are so concerned about your professional success?
My blood boils… yes!!!
its sad.. unfortunate.. painful.. and at times plain funny.
my gut tells me that when i am old, and have wisened up and am thinking back i’ll be happy to have let that promotion go and to have spent that time nurturing and watching my son grow up.. i’d doubt id be able to come to terms with myself if id done otherwise.
i feel lucky that life, circumstances, choices(maybe) have had a result so that i haven’t been sucked up so far into the whirl-pool that i can no longer breathe(see the stark foolishness ).. in a little of what ive experienced.. staying totally clear of the whirl-pool can be isolating and ineffective.. and in getting too close can be dangerous since its pull is so strong..
having had a chance to watch the pull, the force of todays world (career, social status, money, similar things etc).. i can vouch that even the best of people get pulled into it if not careful.

- sometimes it seems to me that the part of the ocean/whirl-pool that keeps one safe and happy is so thin that apart from a lot of time and effort it would take tons of LUCK to find it.
still trying to find that thin belt in the ocean/whorl pool where id like to be achored. looking for anchors as well.
as long as there are wise bloggers like yourself there is hope!
if anyone finds a good spot, or any achors buzz me!! please
You might as well be ghost write on my blog babe… I totally know what you mean!
*You might as well ghost write….* no “be” there
i guess am sleepy again
@Outreyo…. I personally don’t believe its that difficult… its all about having your preferences sorted in your head…once you are done with that, no whirpool can affect you!
@Tamanna – How much will you pay me
Hain? I will write it myself… For free
@thoughtcourt – Interesting..! its so difficult and complicated for me to get/sort those prefrences in my head.. cause if they were only dependent on me it’d be so much more easier but they are linked to and with a gazzillion other things/people.
here is a question thats been in me head since the longest time –
“How much money would i want per month to be happy ?”
Rs. 30,000 ?
would i be unhappy if i had 25,000 ?
if not, then why not 20,000 ? where does it end ?
will i be less happy if i have 19 pair of clothes instead of 20 ?
if not, what if id have 18 ? ……..
will i be less happy if i watch one movie less in a month ?
will i be less happy if im living in a smaller apartment ?
people say that the less you have the more you enjoy it..
i wonder whats a good balance..
maybe you can help shed some light on an answer.
@outreyo: u can look at it in this way that if u will have less options u wud “invest” ur “time” in using them rather in sorting them …..
and fun is in “facing” rather than “waiting and calculating”
